Colorado Springs Birth Photography - the Birth of Leo
When I first met with Liz, she asked me questions about my gear and camera - the type of questions that only a photographer (or in this case, a photographer's wife) would know to ask. When she and her husband Adrian decided to hire me, I was honored. When I found out she was working with one of my favorite midwives, Jessica Nipp, I was even more excited to photograph their homebirth.
Liz is one of those women who goes through the majority of her labor with relative ease. At six centimeters, she was still laughing and talking with us. If I had to guess, I would have never thought she was in labor. But, soon enough, a strong pattern of contractions began...and once they started, they didn't let up. With grace and strength, she moved through each contractions, relying on the love and support of her sweet husband. 40 minutes later...her second son was born.
Leo means lion, and if you've met this little one...you know he's proving his name already. So very brave and strong.
