The Cesarean Birth of Eleanor
When Kamie and Danny reached out to us about documenting their third birth…I was excited for so many reasons. They had had two emergency cesarean births previously (both babies were preterm) and so they knew just how important all these moments were to capture.
The day you give birth is such a whirlwind (emergency or not) and without images or footage, we can forget and even miss so much. Kamie wanted all these moments of her birth story captured…and I was so honored she asked me to do it!
Unlike her previous births, Kamie was able to schedule this cesarean…and this time her baby went full-term too! They were eager to find out the sex of her baby (it was a surprise!), but even more excited to get to hold and snuggle their baby immediately after birth (something that wasn’t able to happen with her other births)
These images show how much love and joy was in the room when baby Eleanor was born. She came out with a lusty cry and a completely bald head (how adorable, right?) They depict a story of family, of courage, of birth. And each time I attend a cesarean birth, I’m so grateful I’m invited back into these operating rooms to tell these stories. They are so worth capturing and remember and celebrating.
