Wyatt's Fast Arrival at Skyridge Hospital
Danielle reached out to me about photographing her birth story, and it was immediately evident how important it was to not only capture her son's arrival, but also to have tangible memories of the love between her and her husband. Danielle's husband is in the military...and they were clearly deeply in love with each other. I love photographing families who serve our country. It's not only a sacrifice for the soldier but for the partner and children as well! As a first time mom, Danielle asked me questions about birth and motherhood. I loved sharing my own stories with her...I enjoyed offering words of encouragement as her due date drew closer. Although I don't serve as a doula to my clients anymore, I'm always available if they want to talk, or if they want me to share my own stories or affirmations that made a difference in my journey as a mom. Danielle went into labor a few days after her due date. I was so excited to receive her text message (which came in the middle of the night). I anticipated joining her in the morning and maybe having a baby by the afternoon. But Danielle progressed quicker than any of us could have imagined, and by the time I arrived at Skyridge, she was already ready to push! She pushed her baby out with only a few strong contractions, and I just LOVED capturing the pure LOVE and JOY on both her and her husband's face once Wyatt was finally here. Skyridge provided Danielle and her family with wonderful care during her labor and postpartum. They encourage an hour of uninterrupted bonding time so Baby Wyatt got to nurse right away and stay on Danielle's chest for as long as he wanted. It was a beautiful birth with a beautiful family...and I'm so glad they invited me into their space to photograph their story.
