Favorite Photos from 2021 - Part 4

It’s been a heavy week in Denver. An awful shooting that took treasured community members. A fast and devastating fire that destroyed hundreds of homes in mere hours. A friend who lost a much wanted pregnancy. It’s the last day of 2021, and I’m feeling tired, sad, numb.

I planned on sharing part 4 of my favorite images from 2021 today, but then I questioned if I should. The world feels dark.

But perhaps on our darkest days, we need light more than ever, and so I decided to share these images, stories, and glimmers of hope. Most of these births took place during the summer of 2021. This is such a poignant mix of homebirths, cesarean births, and vbacs. Each beautiful and powerful in their own way.

These first time parents labored together so beautifully at home.

My repeat client had a powerful, redemptive VBAC at home in Evergreen.

This amazing BIG baby meeting his parents for the first time.

A gorgeous and fast first birth at Skyridge. My client showed up almost compete!

Postpartum rest. I love when clients bring in their own blankets.

This three-peat client holding her baby and hearing her cry for the very first time. My client’s other babies were taking to the NICU immediately after birth, so this was an especially powerful moment.

A beautiful early morning birth at St. Joes in downtown Denver.

“It’s a boy!” - such a joyful homebirth surrounded by family.

My client and friend after an emergency transfer from home to hospital…followed by an emergency c-section. I’m so glad I was able to be with her in the OR and recovery.

VBAC joy. No other words needed.
