Denver Birth Photography - the Beautiful Birth of Roczen with Big Brother Nearby
I loved Drew from the moment we started talking via email. She was so excited to have her second birth captured...and during each of our interactions I found myself smiling with anticipation - this was going to be a beautiful birth.
Drew texted me early in the morning to let me know that they were heading to Rose Medical Center here in Denver. I had my first ultrasound scheduled for later that morning, and so I prayed that somehow baby would arrive before I got to see the very first images of my own baby. When I arrived at Rose, Drew was laboring fiercely. Her contractions were strong and clearly on-top-of-each other. Her older son Kasen was wide-awake and handling his mama's labor beautifully. He played with his dad - Josh - and would run over to comfort his mom every few minutes. While it isn't an ideal fit for everyone...older siblings tend to do beautifully at births!
Before long it was time to push. Second time moms usually push out their babies quickly, but Drew even surpassed my expectations. With maybe two pushes, sweet Roczen was born. He opened his eyes right away and was placed on his beautiful mama's chest. (And yes, he came in time for me to go to my appointment!) My assistant and dear friend Rebecca Walsh came to Rose shortly after the birth and helped document the new family since I had to leave a bit earlier than I normally do. It's such a blessing to have Rebecca on my time - her eye, talent, and compassionate presence is unmatched!
