The Joy Filled Birth of Noah in Castle Rock
Dawn texted me last Monday night - her water had broke and they were headed to Castle Rock Adventist to welcome their first baby into the world. We texted throughout the night, and I joined them the next day. The sun was shining bright...and Dawn's contraction pattern was strong and intense. I hadn't met Dawn before her birth day, but when I walked into the room, I felt like we were old friends.
Zach and Dawn had fallen in love when they were teenagers, and you could tell that they had a deep connection to each other and to the baby that was soon to join the world. Zach's excitement was so contagious, and Dawn looked radiant, strong, and peaceful throughout the last few hours of her labor.
When it came time to push, the nurses helped Dawn with a few practice pushes. It became quickly evident that Dawn's OB needed to get in the room quickly. Dawn knew how to push! With her mom on one side and Zach on the other, Dawn pushed her sweet baby into the world. Zach was able to deliver the baby (I LOVE when dads decide to do this), and he also had the honor of announcing the big news - It's a BOY!
The next couple of hours were blissful as Zach and Dawn admired and loved on their baby. Their family surrounded them, offering even more love and support. And yes, baby Noah has red hair just like his papa! As I left the hospital and made the drive home to Denver, I couldn't help but think how lucky I am to do this job. There's nothing better than documenting the day you meet the love of your life.
I love watching couples become parents. I loved seeing Zach and Dawn meet their firstborn.
