A VBAC Homebirth in Denver, Colorado
Angela and Joel are the type of people that make you laugh within minutes of meeting them. Connected to each other and passionate about their family, they made it immediately apparent to me that their birth would be full of beauty, strength, and love.
We're blessed in Colorado to have the option to VBAC at hospitals and at homes. Many VBAC families decide to give birth under the competent care of midwives in the comfort of their homes.
Angela worked with Stacie Meredith, a wonderful homebirth midwife here in Denver, who works with many VBAC families. Angela's 2nd birth had been a long but beautiful VBAC, and she was eager to welcome her 3rd baby at home with the same amount of support and care.
Contractions for Angela began in the evening, and her birth team assembled after a few hours of steady contractions. Angela labored through the night, leaning on Joel and her midwives for strength. Her living room was bathed in beautiful blue hues as she worked through contraction after contraction. As the sun began to rise the next morning, we knew baby was approaching. Angela gave birth on the birth stool...with morning light streaming in.
I felt honored to document this story, to share in this sacred space.
