Waterbirth Birth Photos
I don’t know where my next baby is going to be born…but I’d love to have a waterbirth. With my second baby, I labored in the tub but ended up getting out to have her. We’ll see what this little baby decides for his/her birth story! I’ve documented hundreds of birth stories…and dozens upon dozens of waterbirths. I found myself looking through my portfolio this morning and selecting a few of my very favorite waterbirth images I’ve taken over the years.
Many women find that giving birth in the water provides them with just enough pain relief to transition and then push out their babies. (But then again just as many women find that getting out of the water is just what they need to get their babies earthside). Waterbirths aren’t for everyone, but they’re an incredible option for many families (and I LOVE photographing them).
If you’ve had a waterbirth, I would love to hear your experience in the comments below. I hope you enjoy looking at these 15 images as much as I enjoyed filtering through my galleries to pick them out. So many strong mamas…so many strong babies. You’ll see an encaul birth (first image) as well as this mama’s next birth (big sister, who was the baby born encaul, watches as her baby brother is born). You’ll also see a baby born with the cord around her neck (this is NORMAL and is quickly resolved by midwife).
