Denver Birth Photographer: the Unmedicated Hospital Birth of Sam

It's always amazing when you find out a birth client is connected to you outside of birth photography. Annie contacted me in the Spring about the birth of her third baby - a boy. 

She had known my older sister and brother-in-law...back when we all lived in Houston, Texas. My parents and her parents had gone to the same church, well over a decade before! I loved finding out about this long-ago connection, and I eagerly anticipated her August birth. 

Annie had worked with the same midwife (Jane who works at Swedish Medical Center) for her other two births, and so it was special to have her attend Annie's third birth. She worked with amazing grace and beauty as she labored Sam earthside. Annie and Jeremy made an incredible team and although there were moments where Annie questioned her desire for an unmedicated birth, both Jeremy and her midwife encouraged her to try just a little bit longer. Soon enough, it was time to push, and Sam was brought peacefully and joyfully into the world. 

His older siblings were thrilled to meet him just a couple hours later. Day-time births are so much fun!
