A Fast Homebirth in Centennial, Colorado
Sarah. I met Sarah the day after her first daughter was born. They invited me to Littleton hospital to document the first day of their daughter’s life during a New Beginnings session. I loved being with their family…hearing about Sarah’s birth and capturing the beautiful connection between the three of them.
A couple years later…I got this message:
I wasn't sure how early I could express interest! I just had a positive test and just knew for sure that if you were available, I would want you to document our birth. We will either be at Littleton Adventist or at one of the midwifery centers listed above. Thank you!
I was thrilled. I couldn’t wait to document their birth.
Over the course of Sarah’s pregnancy, she decided that instead of a hospital or a birth center…she really wanted to be at home. It felt like an even better fit as COVID-19 began to take hold. She envisioned a birth experience where she was surrounded by the familiar faces and comforts of home.
And I’m so glad she made the choice that she did! Her water broke on a warm summer morning…and things began to move QUICKLY. We all barely made it to her house and within just a half hour or so of our arrival…she had her baby in her arms. Every birth is different…but this birth was so unlike her first birth. It caught us all by surprise in the most wonderful way. Big sister was so involved in every part of the process, and probably would have caught her baby sister if she could have!
